Celandine in medicine. The properties of celandine

In folk and scientific medicine since the last century, fresh celandine juice obtained directly from the plant has been successfully used to treat skin warts.

Based on these data, we came up with the following thought. If coarse skin growths , consisting of many layers of the corneal epithelium, disappear as a result of smearing with one drop of plant fluid, then will polyps, which are more tender in their histological structure, disappear under the action of this grass, polyps? But how to check it? I had to study literature on celandine.

It turned out to be a poisonous herb . If you put a green leaf of celandine on the skin and bandage it, then after a while a second-degree burn will appear on this place – a bullous form.In the veterinary literature, there have been reports of fatal poisoning of animals that have eaten a large amount of celandine. In other animals, there is only hemorrhagic gastroenterocolitis – bloody diarrhea as a result of a burn and rejection of epithelial cells of the mucous membrane of the gastrointestinal tract.

Gradually, over the course of 2 years, on the basis of familiarization with the healing properties of celandine, the idea that first appeared about the possibility of using celandine for the treatment of colon polyps inspired hope and then confidence in a favorable outcome of searches. In parallel, the technique of using celandine was theoretically developed. It was clear that celandine should be applied to the entire colon. Therefore, the method of introducing celandine should be with the contents of the enema. And this means that the celandine must be crushed.

In order not to cause a burn of the mucous membrane , apparently, therapeutic enemas should be done not every day, but every other day. Finally, what was the dosage of fresh green celandine, and even with an enema, it was unknown. No one had previous experience.

The study of this issue in clinical practice showed that celandine has pronounced keratolytic properties. These properties can equally be called cytolytic, since the active principle of this medicinal herb lyses and dissolves not only horny skin formations, but also cells and protein formations in general.

The cytolytic properties of celandine are manifested in the form of an effect on the mucous membrane of hollow organs, which has a pathological potency of polypous growths. In addition to the direct effect on polyps – ligation of the legs and their rejection, the surrounding, still healthy-looking mucous membrane, which has pathological growth potential, is also exposed to healing.

Does celandine affect a healthy mucous membrane? It undoubtedly acts, but to a much lesser extent than on pathologically altered tissue, by analogy with the action of X-rays.

In children, in the presence of a single polyp located no higher than 10 cm from the anus, the polyp is torn off by the index finger of the surgeon according to Mannheim, inserted into the rectum. After that, over the next few days, the patient is given 5-6 therapeutic enemas with celandine for “washing” the legs of the polyp.

In adults, single polyps of the rectal mucosa are relatively rare . More common group, nesting, or multiple, total, ioliposis of the entire colon.

When treating with celandine enemas, we try to remove all the polyps that can be examined through a sigmoidoscope in several sessions with biting tongs of the proctologic kit. The closer to the anus, the more stable the polyps in relation to the celandine. Higher located polyps are easily rejected under the influence of enemas with celandine if all lower polyps are mechanically removed.

Already the first, empirically conducted observations on patients made it possible to establish the permissible doses of ground green celandine used in enemas.

As observations have shown, dried celandine loses to a large extent its keratolytic properties. Therefore, I had to use only fresh, green celandine. A conventional manual or electric meat grinder is used, which greatly speeds up and facilitates the process of preparing green mass of celandine.

Experience has shown that, on average, 1 g of celandine green mass per 1 kg of patient weight should be taken for an enema . In some patients, such a dose of celandine already causes mild intoxication effects. Therefore, you can take 3/4 g of green mass of celandine per 1 kg of patient weight.

Each patient has his own individual 0.5- or 1-liter glass jar, in which he receives a weighted dose of cranked green mass of celandine. Boiled water is added to it at the rate of 1: 10 and a therapeutic enema is given to the patient.

Preparation for a medical enema consists of a cleansing enema, which is placed 2-3 hours before a therapeutic enema. During the introduction of the composition of the therapeutic enema, the patient should lie on his left side with legs bent and slightly raised towards the abdominal wall. After the introduction of the entire composition of the therapeutic enema, the patient can lead a normal lifestyle — sit, walk.
